Finlander finally has a post! My God what's the world coming to???? Anyways, wife and i fished from 2ish til 5 on the west arm. I had my first two follows on a silver prism Grandma casting and on a homemade black and silver twitch. First follow was shallower, but the second I kept around for a bit longer by 8-ing, but it was deeper and didn't get a real good look at him. Left the sonar at home and the net, takes up too much room. Water temp unknown, and as far as clarity???? 4-5- feet??? I was surprised to see the two, hate to see it in the summer. Must look like Mona. Oh yeah, my WIFE caught a muskie, her first ever. 30" .We were trolling that Grandma. Jumped all over the place. Had all 3 trebles in it before I could start cutting the hooks, what a mess. Still had one hook in it when the damn leader pulls out of the sleeves. Shit! Fish on top as I came around to make a grab with my gloved hand. I was after the lure and I did not care if I hung my hand, I wanted that fish loose, free of the last treble. the fish dove and was not seen again. We hung in that area awile but I did not see her. Took off like a shot. I still feel bad about this happening. I believe the starin from trolling those big baits in Ontario weakened the sleeves. This will not happen again. And I'm thinking about cutting off the barbs on all my trebles too. The only good thing is the lure is on the outside of the mouth, below and the fish should be able to eat. I am bummed about this.
