Thrill of a big muskie hard to beat; fall feeding binge creates monster catches
Bondy usually fishes the more-confined and deeper waters of the Detroit River, where his jigging technique is effective in the strong current. He said he averages three or four fish a day from spring through early fall, but that often jumps to six to eight per day in late fall when the fish begin feeding heavily before the onset of winter.
"We had six the other day in really calm, clear weather, which is unusual," he said. "The water is really clear at this time of year because the plankton is just about gone, and with the water this clear I like a little color in it or 20-knots of wind and two-foot waves. They're just a lot less spooky with a big chop."
