Will Schultz,
You owe the members of MMA and explanation on your MUCC thread and I'm sure an apology. I'll state this simply so you can understand
1. Explain yourself in the MUCC thread so people know what you meant
2. apologize for saying MMA is an enemy of the natural resourcesResponse:
1.) MUCC, "I give my pledge as an American to save and faithfully defend from waste the natural resources of my country — its air, soil and minerals, its forests, waters and wildlife."MMA is well known by the DNR and MUCC as a single issue muskellunge club. That is good for the muskellunge with the financial and manpower help of MMA. Thank you for helping one fish toward reaching healthier fish populations in those lakes and rivers with muskellunge. That's easy enough, but doesn't go far enough.
There is much more to state natural resources than just muskellunge. All of the natural resources of the state rely on the moral responsibility of Michigan's stewards of the resources to survive. That is where MMA has a major hypocrisy problem.
It is no secret most of the MMA forum posters openly supported all the state legislators that are the enemies of Michigan's natural resources, Yes or No?
Note which legislators introduced and supported all of the anti-DNR, anti-DEQ, anti-NRTF, anti-environmental, pro-pollution, anti-natural resources bills.
Did MMA members support those specific legislators, Yes or No?Did MMA support the legislators that gutted the DNR, and DEQ budgets to give the money to their corporate Citizen United polluter pals, Yes or No?
Do the MMA forum members promote and support most horrible legislative stewards of natural resources and then continue to brag about it, Yes or No?
Thanks to the legislators that are enemies of Michigan's natural resources the 2012 DNR budget will not include the emergency generator for the Wolf Lake hatchery where the GLS muskellunge are cultured, critical preventative maintenance completed at hatcheries, research/field stations, fish weirs, and much, much, much, more.
Does MMA have plans to replace the DNR budget shortfall the MMA legislators supported, Yes or No?2.) My responsibility as a fishery biologist is to collect data for the DNR, support the DNR, and protect Michigan's natural resources from the state legislators that are the enemies of the state natural resources. If MMA thinks I'm going to apologize for that, go to Hell.
Tom,
The answer to your questions is No. MMA doesn't support any legislators, period. You seem to have MMA confused with the opinion of very few of the many members, that is wrong and what you need to apologize for. You seem to have formed an opinion because a few people don't agree with your opinion on some topics and therefore that must be the position of MMA. Really? So if I apply similar logic all organizations you belong to must be inappropriate offensive jerks… grow up Tom.
Not far enough? MMA is what it is, an organization that sticks to its objectives. This is NOT an organization like MUCC that has different objectives. If belonging to MUCC doesn't help MMA meet its objectives then MMA should not spend a significant amount of its minimal resources on the affiliation.
"Go to hell"? Again, your logic amazes me. Seems that your goal is to be banned from this forum and if you are representing MMA as an enemy of natural resources removed as a member of the organization.
Tom,
Don't confuse people who disagree with you for enemies of the state.
Yes, this is a muskie club and has helped benefit the muskellunge resource statewide, isn't that the point. Also, it can be argued that a healthy muskellunge resource benefits more than just the club members, such as economic boost, healthier overall fisheries, etc.
I feel the organization would be better served without you as a member. I applaud your dedication to the natural resources, but feel you may be a bit misguided in your attempt to make MMA an enemy of yourself. You do a disservice to the club as a member and representative of MMA.
