Usual spring trip with family and a family friend. Spent a good part of Thursday chasing muskies and inspecting the lakes.
Temps ranges from 57-58 farther up, to 62-63 down the chain.
Weeds were just sprouting with cabbage in the normal spots, and some pads starting to fan out on the bottom. Very little tall weed growth with almost all of it being 6-12". Lots of charra in the shallow sandy areas.
Clarity was good, with 5-10 ft depending on what side of the lake and where the wind was blowing.
Thursday we managed to get one follow from a low 40's fish, and as we were trying to figure out where it came from and where it went I noticed a large muskie shaped shadow on the Imaging screen… I slid the boat over a few feet and got my brother on a very nice, very fat female that hit the net. She was 50 on the nose. That was about the only real action on the day.
Friday, after marking a bunch of smallies and walleyes stacked in 8-10 fow on sandy points, we went on a jerk bait mission for them. After the first few spots proved successful, we attempted a blind spot we hadn't fished before. First cast my brother hooks up with a 45-ish… it straightened the hooks soon after but gave a good fight.
All in all a great trip!
