Water temps 58-62. Even in the shallows. Still plenty of weed growth. High winds kept us off the Munuscong most of the trip but even the time spent out there was only action from pike. With are home base on Neebish we would spend most of are time fishing back bays and areas protected from the wind. Plenty of pike action and occasional smalljaw. One small musky for are efforts. The last few years we and other fisherman are seeing more and more of these small skis showing up. I think we caught 8 or 9 last Sept in the 20 to 30 " range.Ive been coming up here most of my life and have never run into this many small fish. I believe the high water has really helped the spawning over the last few years. Could bode well for the years to come.

Very nice. Sounds like a fun trip. Always good to see the younger fish showing up. It seems those smaller fish are showing themselves in better numbers over the last couple years on several of our native waters. I think theres been some productive spawning years recently in more places than one around Northern Michigan. Or maybe the new regulations are starting to show their effects. Whatever the reasons, its definitely a good sign of things to come.
