WT: 72-74
Clarity: Much clearer than in recent years for late July.
Weed growth: Amazing as always.
Was able to find some time after work from about 5pm til dark on Tues and Fri nights plus a Sat morning shift.
Mike Handlogten was in the area for work Tues so we put in an evening shift on Skeg after work. Weather wasn't great with a high pressure and cold fronty conditions. Did not find any fish with the exception of a few overly ambitious smallmouth.
Friday night looked much better for weather with some approaching storms rolling in. Noticed the wife was distracted with a project when I got off work and the air felt fishy so I snuck off for another evening Skeg shift. No fish were found again except one small pike.
The fishy weather continued Saturday morning. Gave Skeg another shot with Chris and our buddy Mac. No action for most of the morning until Mac misses a real nice fish that smacked the bait 10 yards out. He missed it on the hookset but she came back around and got right behind the bait. It looked like she was going to eat again but she decided against it. Would have been nice to get him a fish out there but thats how it goes sometimes…
