Water temp-76-78
Got out with my bro who lives in Oscoda for about 5 hours. I was able to Jedi mind trick him into chasing muskies instead of bass which is what we usually do when I visit him. We fished shallow and deep, but stayed mostly in 8-12 fow with cabbage. A lot of great looking stuff to fish and a very scenic lake to spend time on the water. Unfortunately the muskies didn’t cooperate. We threw mostly blades and rubber. Had some rain and wind move in around 7:30 and I was hopeful we might get lucky but just got wet. At least my brother knows that more times than not, muskie fishing is just a strenuous F-ing workout. I’ve fished Cooke and Loud 5 times just for muskies and I’ve had 1 follow. You’d think you would hear more about incidental catches but I have 3 brothers that live there and they’ve never heard of any fish caught. My brother said Cooke also doesn’t get much ice fishing pressure or spearing. If someone did stick a big one, you’d think they would be showing it off in the Oscoda Press. Would be great to see this lake take off. There are a shit ton of pike in Cooke so that has me a little concerned but it’s had some good stocking so I’m hopeful.
