Nice night to be on the lake with not much boat traffic and good weather. With higher water temps, fish are starting to move into Summer locations and become more aggressive.
Decided to fish on Saturday as I wanted to watch USA/Mexico on Sunday. Surface temps were 75. Pleasure boaters got pretty bad after 1pm. Contacted 2 fish, but both hit the net. 1 was on my third cast of the morning – I looked down at the graph and saw an arch come off the bottom, I pitched my bait 15' behind the boat, 3 pulls later I get smoked by a feisty 36-37". Didn't see another fish until my brother joined me around 3pm. A couple casts into our second spot his rod just loads up. Fish comes head-shaking to the surface about 20 yards from the boat so we see it's a really good fish. A few more big head-shakes at the boat and she is in the net. The bait was basically completely gone in it's mouth (why you don't use fluoro on jerkabits 😀 ), but only had one hook point stuck near the tongue. We got her unhooked, took a few pictures, and a quick measurement and off she went. I think it's the second biggest fish he's ever caught and the second biggest we've caught in Michigan (including LSC). Bumped out right at 50"!
