Went up with my family as usual, Dad had a new boat so he wanted to bomb around in that the first day and we pretty much just fished walleye. We were mildly successful in that endeavor, and managed couple releases with one being over 8 lbs. I think the stocking happening this year is much needed!

Temps were between 57-59
Clarity around 10', more in some places down to 5' in others
Weeds were coming along nicely everywhere but 6 mile, with mixes of cabbage and milfoil up about 1-3'
Normal dark color but there was a small amount of algae here and there.

We did not move anything on 6-mile, and frankly there's another 3-4 monster houses going in. Unless they are all fisherman, I can see the standard progression happening. Wifey and children (and powersports equipment) don't like the weeds so get rid of them! I am a little disappointed to say, but I have a bad feeling the hay-day of 6 mile may be over for good. All other lakes had decent progression of weeds, and 6-mile is a desolate wasteland with a brown muck bottom. There were 2 spots that had any emerging weeds whatsoever, and we hit them pretty hard with nothing to show. Also tried to find scattered bait, or panfish to no avail.

For 5/11 we moved down the chain and fished where there was cover. We caught one nice fish that was 42+ and was my brothers first legal fish, and first non accidental musky! So he was pretty pumped. We then fished the rest of that spot, and went back thru and were able to put together a pattern that was specific enough to replicate fairly easily. The first cast on 3 different spots we moved fish immediately, hooked up on 2 of them, one got off fairly quickly, the other made it to the net, but the hooks hit first and she popped off. The 1st long distance released was mid-upper 30's (after some discussion 🙄 ) The last was in the 42-45 range. All fish were quite beat up from the spawn with noticeable wounds. The last one I hooked was also a little exciting as it was the first time I was able to get one to commit on an "L". Granted it was about 10' from the boat, still cool to watch it sit next to a paused lure then react when it swam the other way! Would have been a first on that lake too [smilie=bangtard.gif]

We threw mostly Suicks, little claws, some smaller spinners and spinner baits, and some gliders. Basically anything that paused for a while got action.
