Been fishing alot lately but I realized I haven't been posting many reports on here, so here is my report from the weekend. Most of my trips lately have been on the bigger lakes in an attempt to explore and learn them more and find areas that hold bait.
Got my butt kicked on Torch Saturday morning. Between the wind and the freezing temps, it was a pretty brutal day on the water. I found some pretty good bait in a few spots out there a week or 2 ago but that bait seems to have moved elsewhere as I was not able to find much of anything that seemed worth casting at. This lake is going to be a tough one to crack. The wind got too rough by noon so I got off to watch the state game instead.
At halftime of the state game it was clear that watching the game was not worth my time and the wind appeared to be dying down with some flurries moving in so I headed back out and finished the day on Elk. Wind was still fairly strong but not near as bad and I was able to find some decent pods of bait just off the secondary break in 60-80FOW. It was all suspending up high less than 20' down so I threw rubber at it for awhile to no avail. Reels started to jam up with ice as it started getting dark so I trolled back to the launch and called it a day.
Sunday morning was beautiful. Absolutely zero wind and temps were very mild, which was a pleasant change from the day before. Decided to hit the upper chain. Fished a lake I have not had any action on and that trend continued. Unfortunately, I slipped on some ice at the access while putting in and popped a muscle in my back, which made for a painful day of casting. Was not able to fish for long cause of my back so I called it a day just before 1 and watched the Lions instead.
