Thought I might get after muskies on a day with Billy Davis, but couldn't resist the stripers. Amazing fish and really intriguing and fun to fish for, a nice break from muskies and these stripers can be every bit as challenging. Tough cold front, morning started at 30 degrees, Billy had asked if I could go the next day instead but I couldn't. He worked very hard to make it happen, my brother and I each getting a beautiful striper in the boat, best was 31 pounds. We even had trouble catching bait to start the day, and the striper contact was cautious but fun, ok nerve wracking too. Big fish tormented the 15" skipjacks for an eternity before taking, pushing them around, knocking scales off them, the skipjacks fleeing all over the place as they were hunted. I think one take was after over and hour of drama with the skipjack. Anyway, I could say more but this is a muskie club page. Billy Davis at meltonhillbill.com is just excellent, really knows his stuff and is great to fish with. I know Nick Day and others have been very impressed with him as well.
