After cancelling on me 3-4 times, my brother was finally able to get up there with me this spring…ish.
A last minute change allowed us to get up and fish from about 8:30-7:30, with a short stop for some kwikie mart pizza in the middle.
We spent time on Intermediate, Hanley, and Ben Way.
It was a beautiful day for a sunburn, and we patiently hoped for some clouds that didn't come till right before we left. Water temps were in the upper 50's to low 60's everywhere, with 58-62 on Intermediate, and 63-65 on the others.
Color was a little brown, but still visible down to 10' or more.
Weeds are very sparse, except on BenWay, some old brownish cabbage had some decent coontail and milfoil coming thru on Hanley, but was pretty short. Some charra shallow. Intermediate never has much for weeds anyhow, but there wasn't much where it usually is! BenWay had good growth of a couple brands of cabbage in 4-6' range.
We contacted a couple fish, didn't land any… One hot follow swung at the last second and missed, and a couple other lazy swipes at gliders, suicks, and rubber, nothing liked bucktails.
The major hilight of the day was taking my boat down to the dam in bellarie, now I have a track on the graph that goes from the channel up from 6-mile to the dam on the Elk River… its becoming a well traveled vessel!
