Wt 73-75

Launched Natalie and went up from there. Contacted about 20-25 fish from the launch to poop island. Threw a few different baits but they only to get a sniff was one of my obscure bucktails which got 5 fish to eat. There never seems to be a definitive pattern there. I can go on optimal days in my book, wind/clouds approaching front, and get one to eat or I can go on a flat calm 90 day and have five eat. You just never know when you fish it and it's always feast or famine it seems.

I wonder if your poop island is the same as my poop island and if you named it that for the same reasons as I.

I still kick myself with both trips I made up there. First day, had tons of action, had some fun, decided to save some energy for the week and have some dinner and beer instead of staying on hot fish… then 3-4 days of absolutely nothing! Also I'd imagine "poop island" is about as definitive as Scott's Lake Michigan report… thanks for narrowing it down 🙄 Great bit of action there though!

It's called poop island because it's the only spot with dirt that you can dig a hole and poop in. How's that for descriptive JP 😀 I actually caught one that was sheltering on poop island bend

I love when things are named aptly! Unlike Tiny at the bar, and his pal Slim…

Have you guys ran up the river to mud lake from the Natalie launch? Or is it to shallow to even target?

Yes that run is pretty easy even in my 17' lund. Going farther up river from mud lake gets a little dicey but can be done. Mud lake itself is shallow and weedy like 2-5 fow. At times fish do go into and out of mud lake though.

They are scarred up around both poop islands! Those are some well educated fish. Talked to a guy up there last time complaining of follows and how every fish had white marks on their mouths as they followed in lol.

I used to call it nap island….now I need a shower….. [smilie=eek7.gif] Tried Mud a little bit on one of our days…nothing…. Had some incredible days in Mud years ago. Biggest fish we have caught out of the river came from Mud. Last few years nada. I know they draw the water done every five years or so….haven't run into that in a long time it seems…..there is a launch in McMillan….gets you a little closer to Mud but was a pain gettin back to it so we never went back to it. Also was looking at the Dnr stocking database…. While we were at Deer we were saying how cool it would be to have musky in there…didn't know Teal was stocked. Kinda a similar lake but right near 41…anyone know if that is going to be in the regular rotation?
