First time on Ovid this year, and it was almost unrecognizable. Visibility was 12' or more, sort of an interesting phenomenon that can happen for a brief window in the spring with the right conditions I guess. I tried the early morning shift but only for a couple hours, luckily got out ahead of a bass tourney with at least 25 boats. I knew using topwater was probably an error in judgement but couldn't help myself for those first 2 hours. Last 2 hours probably fished better but no luck, No muskies seen.
Fished 5:30a – 9:30a
Water temp was 72
There were sparse, tall spindles of curly leaf left in about ~10', with mats of milfoil still 1-5' from the surface in water deeper than 3'.
If you were the lone man slinging the musky lures. I was the other boat with the crew of 3. We moved two fish one at 815 and second at 1015. Both in the lake basin were we met up. Bucktails saw the action. But I also thought top water and switched it up with minnow baits and small rubber. Even trolled cranks when it got really windy. Couldn't get a fish to go though we saw lots of fish activity. Afternoon/night would have probably produced a fish for us. Unfortunately, everyone had to get up early for work. Good luck out there.
