Been wanting to get back here and finally did. Fished 0630am to 130pm, water about 75 at surface, shallow scummy weeds as usual, water a bit more clear than expected, especially shallow, but still an olive clayish soupy look overall. Got one and lost one in the first hour and was pretty excited for possibly a great day. Then dead a long time so decided to give trolling some good work. Dead too for a couple hours and about to start casting again when I suddenly have a double on! First time this has happened to me when solo. I see the first is well hooked as she's close to net and the other is still pulling in the rod holder so I think she must be well hooked. I decide to put that rod between my legs pinched together to try to keep the tension on in a strange feet shuffling effort from stern to bow, twisting my hips to keep the line tight while I also fight the first fish. It was pandemonium, at least as much as one guy can have. I realize I could lose both fish if I keep trying this dumb strategy so net the first. She falls off in the net with the lure even toward to the top of the hoop, so I think I may actually pull off this off and net the second. But with both hands on that netting effort and the leaning over I drop the rod with the second fish, total slack and she gets off. Really fun and memorable though, must've pulled the baits by a pack of feeding muskies and got two hits simultaneously during an otherwise dead span of around 6 hours. Fish boated and lost not large, below 40 inches, but a good day on my favorite lake to get two overall and one of them in a crazy way when I almost got another.
Awesome story. I have enough problems netting 1 fish on my own let alone 2 at one time. I can't imagine how insane that would have been. I wish you got the craziness on video. That would be one hectic show. Nice job getting the one in the net, not to mention the other one you got casting too.
If only those "packs of feeding muskies" were more common…
