fished thorn two days in a row. got its high and its low. water clarity was pretty good for thorn still. i feel like the lake water is still down a decent amount this year, it helps to see some new structure on the lake that i wouldnt normally see. water temps on reached 67 and the weedlines were setting up nicely on saturday and then sunday the weather pushed the floating weeds off where it normally sits. sunday i fished all day through the storms hoping for a fish at dusk when the lake calmed down. it never came. saturday the lake was beautiful. very calm which allowed me to easily move around the lake and fish some points that normally i struggle to hold on. in the morning the guy in the back of my boat that really has no clue how to fish caught his 2 biggest fish of his life on a swimbait. first fish was a 32 inch northern, it came off the point with the duckblind sitting on it on the southside of the point 15 feet off the break. 20 minutes later following down the shoreline heading south he had a follow from a high 30's. he never figure 8ed the bait so he got to see first hand why he needs to. fish swam under the boat slowly for us to watch. about 5 casts later he had a 41 inch ski smoke his bait and it made it in the boat. he was really excited he has called me 3 times about muskie fishing. sunk the hook into another fisherman! ill see if i can get him to join the club here eventually. i cant ever post fish on here ill put em on my facebook. i fished later that night also and went with topwater. fished the large pink pacemaker i got at the banquet. my girl said it would be good luck. i never really fish anything pink on thorn for the most part but i had good luck with it. i had one swipe at and miss which was frustrating but it happens. right at last light i had one follow in hot and it caught me off guard. i remember looking at my bait and saying out loud, man my lure is making waves behind it. when i got 5 feet from the boat i realized there was a ski on it. i screwed it up boatside, tried to turn it and "J" the bait up the side of the boat but i pulled to hard and the lured rolled on the surface and the fish slowly swam under the boat. it wasnt a monster probably high to mid 30's but it was totally my fault which sucks. i have been waiting for a topwater follow like that. i watch it on T.V. and i still didnt recognize it in person! [smilie=brickwall.gif] ill get em next time i guess
