Fished: 10:30 – 6
Water Temp: 38-39
Clarity: Brown tint with 2-3'
Weeds: Sandgrass still doing well out to 12' or so

My brother and I had one of the more exciting days on the water yesterday. Started fishing the deep weed edge with cranks and rubber; we had some suckers get chased, but nothing eaten. Around 1pm the boat rod goes off and we see a nice low-40s fish with the sucker in its mouth. The fish wasn't doing much though so we came inches away from netting it without actually setting the hooks. The fish got spooked by the net and dropped the sucker, but luckily just went back and grabbed the float rod. We decided to set the hook on her this time and put her in the net seconds later. About 2pm we started fishing near the swimming area in 8' of water with gliders and jerkbaits. From 2-2:45pm my brother and I had four different fish eat including a double. We literally couldn't get the suckers in the water quick enough it seemed. Unfortuntely, we only landed two of the four, but it was exciting none the less. Things quieted down a little after that with just one more bite around 5pm. Fish chased the float rod, came in and chased the boat rod, then went back out and grabbed the float rod. Unfortuntely again, hooks did not get pinned so ended up going 3-6 for the day. There are a lot of 38-42" fish in here so it should have good fishing for some years to come.

Had a similar day out there with Adam Minnick in November. The first hour was insane with follows and sucker takes everywhere… then reality set in and we realized we weren't muskie gods with only a few contacts the next 8 hours.

Definitely a lot of fish per acre in the lake yet.
