Not much of a report from my recent trip north. We stayed on St Clair as we always do, and fish there and 6 mile most of the time.
Temps were from 68 the day I arrived in the AM, to 71.
Weeds are coming along nicely, lots of cabbage in the usual spots, and the normal mix in 4' to 10' the deeper stuff is a little more delayed, but is existent.
Visibility was from 6' to 10' depending on location and currents from creeks with the rain, and also wind currents of course.
Unfortunately for my musky fishing, they sprayed 6 mile on Tuesday, they claimed it was for something other than Eurasian Milfoil this time, but that is the same places they were spraying. They treated most of the lower lake (shallower end), and the 4-12' range in the upper lake where the "problem" weeds existed… Kinda screwed things for us, and didn't see much fish activity. That coupled with advice from others, and we decided to concentrate on lakes further down the chain. But, with kids and family that was not as easy, so my hours of fishing muskies was closer to 10-15 hours rather that 30+
I did have one eat on the surface on St Clair early in the week but didn't make the net, and another swing at a jerk bait on wilson later in the week.
The highlight of the trip was a couple 40+" gar eating floating raps, and an 8 lb walleye eating a little claw out of shallow cabbage on wilson. Its head was so big I thought it was a mid sized musky for sure, and was oddly disappointed to catch a pb walleye. Oh, and the hundreds of bluegills and a few nice 3-5 lb largemouths for my kids was more than worth the trip.
