Fished from 8 AM to about 4 PM with my brother.
Weeds were starting to come around near the Intermediate River inlet, and a few on the very north end of the lake too.
Visibility was normal for the lower chain, ranged from 10+ to 20 ft depending on how close you were to the intermediate river (which is a little darker)
Temps were 59-60 in the main lake and down to 55 in the very north end.
We explored the rivers pretty extensively (not casting just looking) and saw a few fish. 3 big females that were really beat up near the inlets/outlets, and a couple smaller males in the same condition in the same spots. We made it all the way up to the bridge in downtown Bellaire, and got stopped by riffles, hopefully more fish up there too! But the sucker population in that river is INSANE! Not as much action in the grass river, but quite a few suckers in that direction too 😈 Temps in the rivers were from 59-61
We spent our time casting the drops off of the inlets/outlets where there were some weeds in 4-6 ft. then out from there along the drop. Good action on smallies, and pike, and had one hot follow that swiped at the last minute, missed and darted off. Was about 40-42" and had scares all over across its back.
It was good to see some fish out there, learn the lake a bit, and also good to see that they are doing their thing… hopefully successfully (kinda makes me want to invest in underwater speakers so I can bump some Barry White at em while cruising thru, but I think Pantera might be more up their alley!
