Fished solo from about noon till 7, and there may have been a stop for refreshments at barnharts in there. I went tto hang the survey boxes… i know its a little late… and figured id fish too. though the morning was cloudy and choppy by the time i was fishing it was sunny and 64. temps were 72-74 pretty much everywhere, and there was good visibility to 8+ ft all over. windy and down current sides of bends and points was siltier and darker than calm areas. from wilson hill up is almost weed chocked with the part right up from there looking pretty good. thought about putting a box at victory park but couldn't even get my boat to the launch. there was enough boat traffic that fishing open water structure was difficult so i trolled most of the larger points. people dont seem to care if you are fishing out there. i had multiple people go on full plane between me and shore while casting. i found some good stuff on the end of lake where it wasnt as busy and started marking good activity including two somethings that were large and would come up as a lure came in, hang out a bit and slowly go back down… trolled after them later to no avail. weeds were thick but only exist between 3 and 9 feet. very few clumps deeper than that. definitely need to go with someone next time as its hard to stay focused on a huge lake with so many opportunities. also got to swim after my boat at the launch after some yahoo drove past the launch half on plane (no wake zone by the state park) and un-beached my boat… fun times and at least it wasnt december

Your comment about swimming after your boat brought back memories. I once had to swim after mine when I managed to tie both ends of my retrieval rope to the boat! Forutnately, it was August and the water was warm. But the wind was blowing the boat out into the lake so I had to swim a ways.

I wish that was the extent of my boat launching adventures but there's several more. I don't mean to hijack your post, but it would be good for laughs if more of us shared their favorite launch mishaps.

Congrats on contacting fish in a large lake where others have experienced challenges.

To be fair that lake is so predicable you can write reports for the future pretty easily. Saw no muskies, caught no muskies, people are jerks, the end. Applies for any trip there lol

Haha I like that. I'm lucky if I even know what day it is, especially now that no kids are in school.

Since he can see into the future and reported getting skunked on 7/10 before it happened, he could have just stayed home that day. I wish I had that sort of information available to me.

I had the fortune of seeing how good the fish and chips and beer was… being served by a very cute german? exchange student… and it was all worth it 😈
