Water temp : 70-75 In upper 66-69 in lower
Clarity : Nice brown stain 3-4' in upper….6-8' in lower
Weeds : Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage

Caught lots of smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, and pike as well as one freshwater drum. Hamlin is a fantastic fishing lake!!!….except for Muskies. Saw nothing in the 3-4 hours of trying for them.

My dad has a place on, and fishes Hamlin for pike and bass. The muskies they see/catch all come from the river channel between Barhardts and just up from Laman's Landing. As the water warms more, they same to relate to the defined weed edge of the river. They also see some fish on the sand/grass areas right against the shoreline where they find it.
That cabbage, tons and tons of it, seems overwhelming to try pull a fish out of.
Just my 2 cents…….

I will be fishing there the week if the middle of July, so I'm itching to try to find one!

Yeah Hamlin definitely has a lot of places and variety of spots to try. I have the old river channel and troughs surrounded by weeds mapped out up from Wilson hill, then the outside weed line from Wilson hill down in front of Barhardts to Indian petes as well as the big point on the north side by the narrows. All look like good areas to me. The lower lake intrigues me a lot as well and I have some great looking milk runs set up. My problem is I go there and scout out all these great spots, then get distracted by other species. Yesterday we spent an hour wailing on 2-4 pound smallmouth in the lower lake and couldn't resist catching sunset walleyes for dinner. Now with the knowledge of the lake I have I need to just go on a good weather day with a muskie fishing partner and fish a 10 + hour day and see if I can find one!

So I just chatted with my dad more about where they see the muskies on Hamlin. Interestingly, it's typically inside weed edges, near creek inlets. Got Suckers??? They do see a few I the river channel, but not as many. I'm thinking a glider over sand/gravel on the inside weed edge. I'm going to give it a try when I'm there in a month.
