Put in a good day on the lake from 6:30 to 3 and then 5:00 to 9. My friend lost a nice Muskie at 8:45 on a black double 10's bucktail. The fish came up and walked on the water with his tail thrashing violently and it's head thrashing back and forth while being totally out of the water. it was the coolest fishing experience on fresh water that I have ever seen! What power! It however only last about five seconds [smilie=brickwall.gif] I finally crossed the hurdle of my first Muskie today. The fish was a GLS and looked a lot like another fish that was posted earlier this year. Only about 18 inches or so but it felt so relieving to get over that hurdle. I caught it on a claw and also followed up with 4 pike, the biggest being around 30 or so, and one largemouth. I had 2 more fish roll on
A claw not quite sure what they were and one follow that ended soon but overall an awesome day! My mother asked if I would be less obsessed now that I have one under my belt an it made me laugh. I had to inform her after today I don't want to fish for anything else the rest of the fish are just bait for a Muskie!
It begins 😀 , When fish miss the Little Claw its a timing thing most of the time. You must force yourself to relax and slow down. Even when fish want fast moving baits your cadence must still be a waltz. You can rip the lure fast slashing it forward then let it kick out and hold the pause. I cant tell you how many times I ripped at the exact time a musky struck. The result is I pulled lure out of its mouth just before the jaws closed. split second timing flaw.
Of course there are just muskies that cant hit a lure as well. Ive seen some roll on ,jump over, and knock baits several feet into the air and not get hooks. But you are starting to see why we chase these beasts. I am glad to have been some help and now go catch your first hog!!
