Water temp 74 to 75 degrees
Water clarity probably 4 to 5 feet, brown tint
Weeds lush inside the edge, several large floating algal balls 1 to 4 feet across
Weather pleasant, winds variable
Fished 10:15AM to 1:45PM
Moved three fish, all small, over the basin in 17 to 20 feet, one ate, a 31 incher.
In a moment of comedy, discovered I had left my muskie box at home so I went with the three baits strung on the three rods, a Jackpot, a small Ernie, and a swimbait. Then I threw the swimbait off in a backlash (how often do you lose a muskie bait, anyway…once every three or four years, maybe?) so I was down to the Jackpot and the Ernie for the day. Small bait, small fish, just like it's supposed to happen.
