Fished 730 to noon
Weeds are good in spots, starting to come in a little deeper, but no really as far along as I expected.
Water was on the dirty side of murray conditions, on the west half it was filthy on the surface, water was mid 60's and there was dead or starving for o2 bluegills everywhere.
I found fish scattered a bit, but also found some in the weeds, so I stuck there. I landed a little claw right on top of one early and it spun around in a circle a couple times trying to hit, or being cheesed that I was invading its space, and didn't hook up. Then about an hour before I had to leave, and coincidentally an hour before the cloud cover came in, I had 2 fish eat. had one nice fat low 40's to the boat and I botched the net job, the other spit the hook right before I went to grab the net. Also had a couple hot follows from long distance that peeled off about 20-30 ft from the boat.
I threw double 8's little claws, and suicks.
Other odd trend was getting cut off by fisherman. I had one boat full of old people race in front of me with their little trolling motor and anchor about 30 ft in front of me, then about 50 yards down that shore another panfisherman did the same thing. Later on I had 2 swans in separate spots chase me out of spots just about coming in my boat. then right before I left I think a couple guys throwing muskie lures thought I was invading their space and they cut across a cove and cut me off there. that was as much my fault not knowing where they were going, so I didn't mind. Either way it was an interesting day on the water
Thanks Charlie, Its definitely nice thinking, "hey the wind is picking up", instead of "oh crap, wind". More casting and less screwing with the ride has been a pleasant part of the new rig.
I was more concerned about the swans than anything! I was having flashbacks to childhood and having one fly in our boat while going thru the tunnel from st clair to ellsworth lakes. My dad beat it over the back with an oar, till it gave up… but I don't have any oars on board!
