Water temps warming fast and was 70 by the time we left and green slime bombs surfacing all day. Weeds up and emergent in many areas. Morning was full of action and surprises. Michelle missed a huge fish on her Hell hound but got to see the entire fish as it rolled at boat side. It was unreal. She is still fish less this season. For me I started the day out with a 20 plus pound monster Snapping turtle on a perch Claw. It had the bait and all three hooks in its skin around the head. Nasty job trying to unhook that thing. It got rehooked three times as I removed one it would roll and get hooked again. This picture was the last unhooking from one of its rear feet.It was however released with no bleeding. Wasted my long handled pliers.
Trolling did nothing and with Michelles bad ankle we did a lot of riding around for naught. I lost one fish at about 11.00 am which ended the Musky action. Pleasure boaters were out in force and floating weeds everywhere. The lake was mess by 5 pm.

Doesn't sound like it was an immediate release. Those are out of season right now. [smilie=nono.gif]

Yes, he had the lure wrapped around his head then as I started getting the hooks out he rolled and got the tail hook in his back claw. He was one Angry snapper. He snapped the pliers several times. That is one bad news critter. Mike

Great job with that nasty dude, a good Claw is worth the risk I'd agree!

Between Joe's encounter with the angry swan, and Mike doing turtlemania, I wonder if the fishing is any good at Thorn!
