Not as cold as I thought it would be. Water; temp 54 deg, stained. Weed growth seems normal for this time of yr. I had an exciting day. Only fished 2 hrs. because of family needs, but moved 1 maybe 38" and boated a 47". My new personal best. I was by myself and had quite a time of it. Yum 6.5" money minnow, my new favorite bait. Steady retrieve and pulled it right through the weeds. 2- 4 ft of water. I posted a link to the pic in the photo forum, it's not good, but it's the best I could do by myself.

Great fish!! Congrads on the PB.

The weather got tougher as the day progressed, cold rain and wind, even a little sleet I thought. But the water was warmer than expected, and I did like the clarity and level, I thought the weeds were more advanced for opening week but not sure, may have just been the warm March making me think the weeds would be ahead of usual.

I got two in the net, not large fish but I was happy. Also a decent pike and some other contact, especially in the morning. A very good opener, plenty of times it's just an arse kicking without any fish.
