Water is really high, but clear for the most part. visibilty differs from one side or end to the other, min 3-4 ft, max 10-12?
temps are a cool 56-60 and the weeds are laying down except a few random sprouts of what looked like bright green millfoil and some curly leaf stuff with a few coontails still around.
I had a hit on six-mile on the third cast on saturday, then nothing till sunday, i hooked a 30" on st. clair while walleye fishing, as my brother stood there trying to decide whether or not to net the fish, it cut me off [smilie=bangtard.gif]
Seems to be the luck up there, fish muskies, catch bass — fish bass, catch walleye — fish walleye, catch walleye, and a musky…

Nice job but you left a few out…from my experience on the upper chain…

Fish muskies – Catch walleye

Fish walleye – Catch nothing

Fish Double Ten's – Catch Bass

How many Walleye did you end up with?

5 so far… we usually do better this time of year than in the summer while there, now that we kinda figured them out. I will see how this next weekend goes. my brothers are up the whole week, and haven't heard much about how they are doing.

just got another report of a musky hooked while walleye fishing, about dusk on 6 mile, trolling with floating rapalas. the rod on the inside of a turn stopped and hit the surface, and a large fish in the 40's hit. my brother said it was a blast for about 30 sec. till it broke his rapala in half!
they are making feel like a schmuck spending thousands on big lures!

Haha story of my life…except the last part, Im on Chris's side…fish walleye, catch nothing

Definitly seems like most muskies I hear about people landing up there are caught by accident fishin for something else…soon as the salmon fishing stops Ill be up there for some fall muskie trolling in Elk

It was a blast until he realized that he needed 40-80 more pounds of line, #130lb leader, and a lure that cant be snapped in half with your fingers…

Well, i went out again over this weekend. I fishied on friday with Will and we boated 3 and lost one, and had a couple rips that came back with teeth. All in the evening.
Water was kinda the same, clear-ish on one end/side of the lakes, and clouded up a bit on the other.
weeds looked good still, and the fishing friday was great!
Sat. I took my brothers out on six-mile through to ellsworth, and hit 2 fish, both got off, on account of user error, one on a quick strike rig with crap knots and the other on a showgirl and no hook set.
Sunday my wife threatened my livelyhood so I had to go home!
