Got out on Skegemog for awhile on Sunday and Monday of the long holiday weekend.

Water was considerably colder than a few weeks ago after the mid 40 degree nights friday and saturday and all the 25+mph winds over the first couple days of the weekend. Weeds are very sparse out there. Got one smallmouth but no love from the muskies.

Just fished the afternoons as I was on the Traverse bay for Kings mornings and nights…did alright, got a nice 9 pound lake trout and 2 decent Coho's one 8 pounds and one 10 but no Kings, they were up real shallow jumping around in about 30-50 feet of water so I think they were all messed up from the sudden cold weather and were real spooky in the shallower water…got the cohos and laker in 100 feet right on the bottom

Was a nice change to catch some nice fighting fish having been skunked on muskie all year so far…hoping my muskie luck changes at the end of the month, planning a trip to western UP, always good fishin up there

When you see those kings up shallow it can be awesome, try pulling J-plugs and silver hordes with no weight behind some inline boards a little over 3mph. Just a thought and when all the cold water is up top and the fish are shallow the slide divers really shine being able to get your diver further back without going so deep.
