Water 44 or so, clear for Thorn, typical Nov weeds remaining, water level low, maybe the lowest I remember here. Good conditions today, with clouds and other factors leading to better activity for a November day. Boated one nice 43 and had other chances with one other good one that hit, also four nice pike, two into the low 30s, and a nice bass. Contact spread throughout the day but one hour in particular had three muskie chances including the one that saw the net and the other hit, the two best pike, and the bass which though nice, had me skate it across the top like a big snagged leaf I was so anxious to get rid of it and get back after Esocids (though I should have pulled it in slower, it may have got hit).
The muskie had a short face for its size and bulging eyes, an uncommon look I'd seen at Austin a couple times with pug-faced fish. This one didn't have so much a pug look but the jaws were really short for its size and with the bulging eyes, it was unusual for Thorn. Not sure if fish like this spend a lot of time ramming into sea walls when they're little, but it would be interesting to learn more about why this occurs.
