Water temperature 43 degrees
Water clarity probably 4 feet, brown stain
Weather partly cloudy, east wind
Fished 1:15PM to 5:15PM
Contacted one of Murray's big girls, mid-40's which followed a bucktail off the edge and took it on the first turn of the eight. Had this fish on for quite a while, made a couple of circles around the boat before diving under the boat and reversing direction. Hook came out shortly thereafter. I have gotten really lucky on weather on my days off this fall and this looks like maybe the last day for me this year. Glad to have seen this big fish which gave me a chance as the year winds down. Plenty of baitfish down at 20'-22' but I stuck with the shelf pattern which has treated me well the last four times here.

Nice job, Larry! I tried telling myself to throw bucktails the last time I was there, but it just seemed against my nature with the cold weather! I know the fish can be anywhere, really. My brain is just a little defective.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too Jim….didnt seem I could spin the blades at a slow enough pace to seem "real". Come to find out someone else out there brought one in on a blade and turned and grabbed the dangling meat offering. I stuck with a dog, jigging and on the breakline w a split second follow (i was looking at the fish finder HA!) [smilie=bangtard.gif] beautiful day though. time to start dreaming about 2011.

Larry,

Again, congrats on making contact with a big fish. I talked to Larry about a half hour after he lost the fish. The great thing about MMA people is this:
Larry told me where he lost the fish, and how he made contact. The secrecy among many other fishermen is not present among the MMA folks that I know. That alone makes membership invaluable.

So, a big "THANK YOU" to those who shared so freely with me this year: Jason & Bill Vkop, Jim TenHaaf, Will, Jon Swanezy, Joe Bednar (hope I spelled your last name right!) Mike King, and Larry Porter. I probably forgot a name or two but am still thankful for your input. Now, if I could only catch some fish!! Hopefully, I have three weeks left before iceup to put your assistance to use.

Charlie

Tough luck on the fish larry, there will be plenty more im sure.

I wish it was warmer and the season wasn't cut sooo short for most of us who wanted to be cautious with fish.

Thanks for the words charlie. Murray can be such an easy lake sometimes and tough at many other times. Hopefully next year we don't have any sustained heat waves so i can get out more.
