Well with the ridiculously high water temps around here I was able to hitch a ride with my neighbors out perch fishing on the big lake. Headed out from St. Joe and went North of the piers and explored water from 22-32 ft deep. Marked TONS of alewives, and some schools of perch. Set up on schools a few different times but couldn't manage a single perch. nobody on the radio was reporting much either. Fished for a good 3-4 hours still with nothing to show before deciding to head South of the piers. Great choice. We began marking lots of fish in 18ft of water, and slightly dirtier water than to the north. Started catching fish as soon as we anchored, and continued catching them until we left around 7:30. Ended up with 117 between the 4 of us. Most in the 9-10 inch range, a few smaller, with 20-30 or so in the 11-13 inch range. We used "spreader" rigs with minnows and around 1/2-3/4oz weight fished right on bottom. Was a lot of fun, just wished we wouldn't have wasted so much time to the North. Going to be tasty.
