I'm sure Murray is still wide open, it's pretty in line with the lake I have out the window at my desk and that was still wide open today.

I'll bet Campau has some ice but the Kettle side will be open for a while.

Austin is completely iced over, I'm actually hoping to be able to fish it tonight after work through the ice, and hopefully we'll be the first people on the ice as usual. I absolutely HATE ice fishing Austin but it is usually the first lake to freeze in the area.

[smilie=eyebulge.gif] Be careful, man! If you do go through, just remember to stand. The ice should be right at about your waistline. [smilie=biggrin.gif]

I checked it last night, and we were able to walk out about 20 feet from shore but that was all the further I felt comfortable going. Was around 2 inches but was soft, just 1-2 hits with the spud went through. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be fishing.

FYI, as of the 8th, Murray is wide open. Jim TenHaaf and I fished it this afternoon. Water temp 37. I wish the muskies would have appreciated our dedication but only one follow occurred.

Thanks for having me along, Charlie! It was great talking with you again. Yes, it's too bad the muskies didn't cooperate for us, but no guarantees with this cold weather, eh?

If there was an award, it should go to Jim. I was out in my snowmobile suit with two ski masks. Jim was in a tank top and shorts. One tough dude!
