water temp -76
weeds- normal for Austin in June. Thick in the usual places, sparce in others
clarity- also normal (3-5ft?), a little tough to see with the waves though

Arrived after work to perfect weather conditions. Went to a spot that has been red hot the last couple trips using a bait that has been red hot and picked up a heavy 40incher about 5 minutes into the day. Problem was I was a little sloppy trying to unhook it and it sliced my left thumb wide open, making it hard to cast. I was forced to use my lanyard for my sunglasses to stop the bleeding, but not before it made a bloody mess of my shirt and shorts. I then trolled for awhile with no success, then returned to where I caught the fish later with a topwater and picked up a 22in largemouth!

Nice catches! And a battle wound. At least you could keep going. Thanks for the report. Was wondering about the stats on Austin.

Nice fish both of them. Sorry about the thumb. Awhile back I got a tooth in the thumb, bled like a stuck pig. Now I use gloves and have 2 first-aid kits in the boat.

Got to like the war wounds. My buddy has a knack (Todd Frank) for getting blood in the boat and everywhere else, so I had to upgrade my first aid kit to a pretty good sized assortment….Congrats on the fish.
