Overcast
Was going to bust out the jigs for the Fingerlings hanging out around the launch but decided to go after Mom and Dad instead. (DNR must have stocked tonight)
Went 1 for 4 with two hooked, landed the first one and the other decided to jump in the boat but missed and got off right at boatside. The one I did land was around 40" with Tag # 47-107 (personal best!!)

10 inches in just over 2 years? Is that a fast growth rate will? Seems like a pretty healthy growth to me, but ive never looked at data on some of these stocked lakes.
Pretty normal for a female in most waters around the state. She was likely a 30" 3yr old in 2008 and is now a 40" five year old. Probably one more year of that growth for her and then she'll slow down at maturity. For comparison the seven year old females in there are 44-46".
Gotcha, ive noticed in Murray i haven't seen many small fish like last year caught in the 30-32 inch range, now i have seen a lot more 36-38 inch fish caught this year. Always a plus, unless it is just lucky that i haven't been getting anymore fish in the 30-32 inch range.. I had a few follows from fish that were maybe 20 inches back in june

Interesting… I think it's been a few years since I've seen or caught anything under 36 in Murray.
Will,
Hopefully I'm not hijacking this post. But it's interesting what was said about the lack of smaller fish in Murray. Does that mean the last plant of 100,000 half inchers wasn't too successful?
I know you don't have any say over "where" fish are planted. But considering the pressure Murray gets, I hope they make the list this year. Of course, I have a "selfish" interest as it's the only musky lake I fish!

If even one percent of those fry survived it would be a miracle. Due to water clarity and the timing it's likely those were simply bluegill food.
Murray is on the list this year but it is a third priority water and I'm comfortable saying it will not get stocked.

Wow… I thought I remembered some back in '08 but didn't remember any in '09. Yes, I'm getting old… I can tell you every detail of each fish over 50 though, those never get fuzzy.

I guess if you catch 7 fish under 36" in 2 years out of the 300 that you caught, you tend to forget them.
