Fantastic day, went 8 for 14 with two big fish. Water temps on arrival 73 and 76 on departure. A little warm for Early July and one of the smaller fish, a 36 incher went back real hard. Might have lost that one. It did go down but it took near half an hour in the live well. Fished three main areas along the south shore and found fish in 14 to 17 feet. 7 fish came on Slashers and one on one of my custom double #8 Bucktails. All rods were on the Planer boards all day. This kept 8 lures in the water as we were running 25 and 30 foot sliders, 4 rods with 4 sliders. Michelle is always up when the big girl hits it seems. Second to the last fish of the day I thought I had a 40 pounder on as I could not move it from the bottom. It turned out to be a double header on the same rod. A 40 inch Catfish that had to weigh 20 pounds and a 47 inch Musky that went about 23/25 pounds. I used pliers to release the Catfish in the water then hand lined my Muskie into the net. It wasnt over yet as an hour later Michelle hit the big girl on our last run at a certain piece of structure that we had been working for hours. 50.5 with about a 20 inch girth. Not a 30 pounder but a real nice fish to end the day. Pics in the photo forum. Her fish ate a new color we were testing. Chartruse and Blue sides, black perch bars and Chameleon blue scales. Two muskies and a second Catfish liked that lure. Counting the two catfish we had a 10 fish day ha ha ha . Mike and Michelle
😀 😀 I like that, Catski . I swear my knees were shakin . I thought for sure this was the 55 inch 40 pounder I was dreaming about. When that Catfish came up I still had not seen the Musky and thought, wtf? I know Catfsh can fight but that was rediculas. I went to set the rod down and Michelle grabbed the slider to get it off the line and the Musky almost ripped her hand off. I was lucky the catfish didnt mess things up. It wasnt a real great 47 ,I had to pinch the tail to get that measurement and was lucky as it had a long skinny tail ha ha ha . But those are the Muskies inc rules tail pinched and such. It was a solid 45.5 inch fish. Shelly's fish was a solid 49.5 and 50.5 with the tail pinch. Her fish had a real wide head and had three EEL wounds on it. Next time Im hoping the Catfish stay home ha ha ha . Mike
