Anyone want to buy some fishing gear? 😡 I think I'm going to take up canasta. [smilie=cry.gif]

I don't know if it's me or the fish or both, buy I need to buy a clue! It's been over a week since I've seen a fish; over 30 hrs of fishing with nothing to even talk about. I did have a strike today, but no joy, and no follows.

Water is clearing with 3-6' visibility depending on where, but most places are ~5'. It won't take much to cloud it up again, because if you disturb even the new-growth weeds, a dense cloud of silt gets knocked off. Another good blow stirring up waves and it'll be cafe au lait again in no time. Temps are 69-71°F.

Milfoil is starting up nicely, and curly-leaf pond weed is peaking. Even saw some dying pondweed in a few spots. The pond weed was barely visible in some areas, but only because it was pretty calm today. The N part of the milfoil bed just SE of the dam is emergent now.

The launch has another dock now but they haven't paved the approach yet, so if you want to use it, you need to drive over the large rocks they spread as a subtrate for the asphalt to come. They apparently intend to use only one side of the second dock, though, as it's right up along the east edge of the new ramp.

LOTS and LOTS of boats out today. I contend again that one can find the most accomplished fools at a boat launch. 🙄

Anyone for canasta?

Stay positive, Tom. Early season fishing can be very tough. Things will stabilize in June and you'll start catching 'em. Besides, you probably would get bored playing canasta!

Crowded boat ramps on busy weekends are great entertainment, sometime I think I'll go with a lawn chair and cooler of favorite beverages and just enjoy it without even fishing. Maybe even pack a video camera. We should start a Top 10 list of boat launch follies sometime (though I've had some myself, such as launching with the plug out etc.).

That isn't true at all… I promise.

Hemi – Time to break away from what you did last year and try something completely different. A jig, a tube, slash crank, spinnerbait, etc.

I've tried each of those except a tube, which I don't have.

I know the fish are there – they're just not interested.

sometimes a bait that you would never even pick out of ur tackle box will produce. Choose something outlandish, something you haven't used in a long time, you might gain some new confidence in something.
