Fished the Canadian side again today… We didn't get a fifty, but not too far off. Another good day. Wind NE, then N with waves from 2 feet diminshing to light chop. Mostly Sunny. Water slight stain. Water 72 deg. 15-18 FOW. 30/2 give or take. Perch & $9 were hot. 9 for 10 in 8 hours. Besides the biigger ones, we had a 42, 39, 39, 38, and then 4 low to mid 30's.
Tim was living right again and managed the largest one at 48. However, I had a really unique expperience… I was checking lures for weeds and I was pulling in a line hand over hand… Got the bait about 10-15 feet behind the the boat and a nice fish comes up behind the bait, S's, and takes the bait in its mouth… I about flipped, but pulled on the line as hard as I could to set the hook. Dropped the line, grabbed the rod and reeld like crazy to take out the slck… Fish is still on… Fight it for quite a while, and end up measring a chunky girl still spilling eggs. Eggs in July…
The day was also just filled with little high stress moments with line tangles, flipping boards, boards unhooking, dead start battery , spilled cooffe, angry gas station attendant, and so on… But it was worth a day of hooky.

Very nice.Might be time to dust off the boards and mast and get Tyler over there.
Trolling open water fish is not my favorite type of muskie fishing, but chaddy likes to catch fish… It is just a different kind of fishing… Finding a concentration of fish, determining the presentation they are looking for (depth, speed, bait style, color), working lines, etc. It's just different… There is a lot of thinking, and it can be very physical. Cleaning baits, and changing out lures every 20-30 minutes in 2-3 footers is actually damn tiring… I feel like I got hit by truck this morning… Can't wait to go again.
