Your 17' should be plenty of boat for most days. If fishing from the CDN side you will not have to run far. Most musky fishing is done within 4 miles of shore.
If the winds go over 15 mph it will be a bit rough, coming from the N will be worse if fishing the south shore.

The Detroit River will also be heating up in about 3 wks.

i was thinking about launching around campau bay and fishing around strawberry island and out in front of selfridge - are those still good areas in fall? Do the muskie go deeper in fall out there, or do they relate to ome summer patterns, cause of the shallowness of the lake?
