I found a local source of the Bomber Magnum Long "A". Considering all the walleye I've caught at night on regular long "A" over the top of the weed beds I was wondering if any of you have invested in the magnums for musky? Looking at the bait I would first change the cheap hooks. Is there a favorite color pattern?

Cheap hooks? That doesn't sound like a Bomber...
They work for muskies and pike. It's probably one of the most under utilized baits out there especially for spring muskies.

I noticed these lures had the silver bulky hooks that normally do not hold a sharp point. For walleye we've always changed the hooks. They are heavy enough for musky. I've always enjoyed the long A's for easy casting.

I have a number of these painted in muskie colors. They work well and they are inexpensive as muskie baits go. Mine are the #26, I also have about 12 that I have not yet painted.
No problem with the hooks for me. I even have a few #25's painted too.
