Michigan Muskie Alliance

Im looking for some decent musky lakes in the lower pen. other than st. clair and the Detroit and St. Clair river. Im new to the sport and dont know of any other lakes. Thanks guys.

Where are you located so we might help you identify some closer to you?

Im in the metro Detroit area. Ive read up on the proper handleing techniques and have a strong catch and relese ethic. It would be an absolute shame to let one of these great fish die but i know it does somtimes happen. Hopefully i can minimize this though. Ive purchased a cradle, and various other things to help me keep these guys alive. Ive been a fisherman all my life, but mainly for smallies and Northerns. My grandfather was a muskie hunter though.

Bellville is close but kind of a mystery. Maybe you can solve it. Glad to hear the musky pox runs in your family. Im not alone :) There have been several plants there but no one from this club seems to have figured it out. Good place to start. Close to home and such. Kingfisher

Depending on how far west you are, there's Lake Hudson too. It's a bit of a drive (we're in Farmington). Bellville gets pretty crazy too once the nice weather hits.

Belleville is pretty much the closest to the metro area that i've seen so far. i've only been out there once, and i just kinda checked it out from shore. definitely seemed like a good lake, but i don't have a boat, so i've been unable to really check it out. that should change this week though (hopefully). and it does get crazy, as fishingwidow said. i was out there the first or second weekend in may i think, and it was already pretty packed then. i'd hate to imagine what it'd be like this weekend.

there is muskie in Belleville lake!!! Tell me about this...good size fish? Good size population?

Go to the D.N.R. website and download the files from thier fish stocking database. I believe Belville has 2 or three year classes. Should have some pretty good fish in there by now. Kingfisher
