Do I have to have a musky tag on me in order to harvest one, or do I have to buy one after I catch the fish?

You must have the tag prior. The tag must be used when possession of the fish has occured. Any fish on a stringer, rope, livewell should have the tag on it. Same as harvesting a deer, bear, turkey, etc...

I would suggest CATCH PHOTO RELEASE. If your wanting a trophy mount there are well qualified individuals who can make you a replica that looks better and lasts longer than a skin mount.

Replicas are great and CPR is the way to go.
