My parents drove back up north yesterday and said Margrethe still had ice on it as well, it was fading dad said, but still had quite a bit.

Yep checked it yesterday and it was only open about 30 to 50 yards all the way around. It is supposed to hit th high 50's tomorrow and if we can get some wind maybe it will be ready for Saturday but those water temps will be pretty chilly still. Probably have to chase Walleye on Houghton for a week to keep the itch at bay.

Margarethe Update 4/25 PM

Post by TRiley » Thu Apr 25, 2013 7:18 pm

Just wanted to update the conditions on Margarethe for anyone thinking of heading there this weekend. What a difference 36 hours has made. Lake is 95% ice free (there was a bit in the Guard camp cove) and one of the docks at the launch is in. I forgot my thermometer to get a water temp. but at least it is fishable and getting better each day.

Thanks guys, we're heading there Saturday. Good to know we have open water waiting for us.
If I'm not going to catch fish. I might as well not be catching Muskies...
