The MMA and the state of muskie fishing in Michigan received a good write-up in the Quick Hits section of the Summer 2005 issue of EA.
It is a decent article that hits on some of the problems facing(and what is being done for) our inland muskie fishery. The article talks about the hush-hush topic of darkhouse spearing with a biologist. One aspect that they did not address and one I think gets overlooked as to why Michigan's Muskie program is so far behind those of Minn., Wisc., Ind., and even Iowa is the amount of coolwater and the money put into the coolwater fisheries as compared to that of the other states. With that said it was nice to see the acknowledgement of the MMA's contribution.
