A little late in doing so but took the survey and left a note. Key points for me are that much more strict regulations may not be popular in the short term, but it is hard to argue with success of Minnesota/Canada musky fisheries, and the tourism that brings. Both having stricter regulations than MI...

Nope, no fish at all in Bankson. All killed off by wild-eyed locals. I shot a few fish myself, drunk on the water at 3:00am with a Q-Beam and a Ruger 22/45 target pistol. And there's no population of totally unpressured monster walleye in the lake, either, by the way. No comment on the walleye :twi...

no one from MMA actually really fishes the lake more than once or twice a year if that anymore. I fish it at least 10-12 times a year, more than that some years. However it is my worst fish/hour lake I fish. Seems to get quite a bit of out of state pressure too. It was always lots of hours/fish. Bu...

To me, the spring issue sounds like something minor enough, that I could probably find a fix for it. The winch would be nice, and I would like to have one of those too for big blades. But I also want the ability to burn them in. You know, if might be cheaper to buy one of the Avet two speed reels. T...

Anyone local familier with Avet, or Daiwa Saltist reels?
I want to get one or the other before summer hits. Most shops don't carry them, and I've never actually held either.
Any feedback on these reels?
I like that the AVET seems to be a solid reel, and is made in the USA
I like that the Daiwa is a levelwind reel, and has a star drag.

The less money it costs the more we all can fish this summer so I think it's great. My home lake is Long lake, and I'll probably spend plenty of days out there. Anyone is welcome to come. I don't want gas money either. Because if I'm going there, it would cost me the same in gas whether someone came...

Agreed that the Minnesota strain doesnt necessarily mean "spotted", but in his article, he specificall said the spotted, or "Leech Lake" strain vs barred or "Wisconsin" strain. He does actually call them "GLS" in the arcticle though so he does mislead us there. Do we KNOW that the GLS is different ...

Please forgive this ignorant and selfish question but for those who have caught plenty of both, would you say they are essentially the same in habits, difficulty to catch, etc.? I've had very little experience with the GLS and was hoping that they weren't even tougher than the Northern Strain, but ...

I thought that I had heard, or read that years ago Northern strain fish were being stocked in the Indian river. What I remember was that they stopped because the fish were heading to Lake Huron, and leaving the system. Not staying in the river, and Burt/Mullet/Black lakes. I hope that these fish tha...
