While this is great news, won't the shoreline development prevent any successful Musky spawning despite these clean up efforts.

To me, the spring issue sounds like something minor enough, that I could probably find a fix for it. The winch would be nice, and I would like to have one of those too for big blades. I want to get one or the other before summer hits. Most shops don't carry them, and I've never actually held either.

I like that the AVET seems to be a solid reel, and is made in the USA
I like that the Daiwa is a levelwind reel, and has a star drag.

Agreed that the Minnesota strain doesnt necessarily mean "spotted", but in his article, he specificall said the spotted, or "Leech Lake" strain vs barred or "Wisconsin" strain. He does actually call them "GLS" in the arcticle though so he does mislead us there. Do we KNOW that the GLS is different ...
