Its agreed that 50lb. muskies are very rare. But your chances of catching one haven't really diminished at all just because one fish bit the dust. Find a system that you think has monsters in it and GO FISH before the ice comes and either sends you home or south! I always tell everyone I fish with e...

I'll say something negative.......Its a damn shame I didn't catch it!!!!!!!!! I think this thread right here shows the true caliber of people in the MMA. What a fish. It just makes the weekend seem further and further away.

Thanks for that piece Hamilton Reef. Good read. Hopefully, with some thought, the right moves, and some common ground between local governments, local individuals who care about the economy as well as the resource, the MDNR and the WDNR, some of these fish can make it to holding ponds and then the M...

Exactly. There is a large percentage of the fishermen who you will have trouble reasoning with, unfortunately. That is just a fact. But as Cyberlunge said, at least you can say that you tried. And, you never know, the one guy that comes across as the most agressively opposed might someday "see the l...

Kevin is right. Don't get over the top on it Swanzey, we know you mean well. However, some of these situations can be truly happening. Whats even more disturbing is think about how many times this has happened and no one posted it anywhere. I've watched it happen, too many times to count. Yes, I've ...

You guys shouldn't let low visibility bother you some much. Use firetigers or chrome/prism baits with lots of noise and have faith. I love dirty water.
The fish commit more easily. Its the really clear stuff that is a challenge. You see more fish, but hook a lot less.

Macatawa? Never even seen it. One of the few places in Michigan I haven't been to is Holland. They sell wooden shoes there or something, right? Sorry Kid, couldn't even begin to form an opinion.

Mike, the St. Mary's doesn't open until May 15. Anyway, early in the season is as tough as it gets there. I usually don't start fishing until after Memorial Day.

Well said. I've seen the area. You're right on. It reminds me of some areas of Green Bay. Wildfowl Bay holds fond memories for me as well.

MuskyDan, Some of what you've said has weight. But, if there are muskies in the Saginaw River watershed, there are muskies in Saginaw Bay. However, the numbers vs. the area of water in square miles would make it tough to say the least. There have also been spotted fish caught in the bay, probably st...
