When it was hot with high surface water temp mid summer last year my boat had the best luck working the deeper areas with Bondy's and jigs after the sun got up. It's a fun lake to fish and if there are active fish you can usually find a couple since the lake is small. Below is some video of a 3 fish...

I contact the most fish along the north/east shore line along the drop off. If you look at the DNR map we follow the 10' foot contour line that is below the North arrow on the map. Fished Cheboygan River, Black River, Indian River, South end of Mullett (much of lake still iced up). Dodged ice most of a.m. Surface temps low 40's. Several pike in boat not much else seen other than suckers.
