I begin fishing as soon as the season opens and yes the fish can be so shallow they are barley under water a coule feet from shore. I target the warmest water i can find, creek mouths and shallow springs are golden spots on spots. I usually throw jig/creatures right on the shore edge and drag them i...

All the opinions are interesting. I have a strong opinion on this topic because of one of my misadventures..... I was fishing alone in the Yoop, really "alone", nobody within miles of me and I got in trouble because I was careless in releasing a fish. Rather than using the net, I chose lean over the...

Heiting's book "Musky Mastery" has a chaper on flyfishing with George Langley. There's a pic of a few flys, streamers and bugs and a "Dahlberg Diver". Free and easy to print out. If I can tear one totally apart and rebuild it with upgraded or replacement parts then you can, ...

great thread
This is a great thread for me, very clear and helpful as I didn't have a guiding rule. 80* (Though I've always struggled during the summer doldrums and have few to release.)

It's pretty easy to change/upgrade the gear(s) on older Ambassadeur 5000 and 6000 series reels. Check out Hatterass Outfitters for cool "reel candy". The Smoothie replacement drag washers for your 5000 or 6000 reels are terrific. btw - recall those Abu "anti-backlash" reels that everybody didn't lik...

I don't know anything about the resolution, but here's a thought.... many states have the problem of "unfunded mandates". In other words, the feds are telling a state what the state must do, but the feds don't provide the funding to accomplish the mandate. States suffering big deficits are strugglin...
