Muskellunge Online Creel Reporting for ALL Waters

Post by Will Schultz »

Starting this year the online creel reporting that was restricted to waters with creel card boxes will be opened to collecting data on all waters.

Gathering this information is very important, please take the time to record your days on the water whether you caught a muskie(s) or not.

The creel boxes with cards are being moved to new waters this year and will be placed at:
Water, County

Ross, Gladwin
Secord, Gladwin
Smallwood, Gladwin
Benway, Antrim (placed at Wilson)
Six Mile, Antrim
West, Dickinson
Crystal Falls, Iron
Paint Pond, Iron
Grassy, Schoolcraft
McKeever, Schoolcraft
Austin, Kalamazoo
East Bay, Gogebic
Mamie, Gogebic
Pomeroy, Gogebic

That's going to be interesting at Hudson, is there going to be one at Diane?

No box at Diane but you should still report fishing trips on the online survey for all muskie waters in 2015.

Don't forget to report your fishing whether you catch anything or not.

The data is only being gathered at this point for internal DNR use with no plans of making it public.

Fly fishing would seem to fit into "casting with artificial lure" so it's unlikely that it would be added.

Will, are they going to tell any of this info to you? I don't get where it's top secret, would love to know what happened at Hudson, seeing I couldn't do squat!!

It's not top secret, I didn't say that. I'm sure I could get the reporting information after it's all compiled which would probably be sometime in May or June.

remember that anyone can contact the DNR and request any information they have gathered. Just because they don't publish it doesn't mean it is not available upon request!
