Good season. I wish I would have made it out a little more. Got a couple people their first muskie on my boat, that was good. Next year, I hope to get out casting more... (More baits :D )

Well if I could have just spent less time in the hospital and more time on the new rig, I would have done better...at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. However, having lost 3 months of prime time to illness and not really fishing much outside of my little area of the world (except a few days on GB for the 1st time---thanks for a great time Bomba), I didn't do so badly. 8 legals with a big heavy 45 coming late in the season to ice the cake. Not too shabby but next yeart I have to pick it up. Hope to return for a full week on GB and plan to stress test the new 621 on LSC when there are a bit less waves than the 5 footers Bomba and I fished in during my only trip there in October....can you say chocolate milk? Michigan muskies are making a solid effort thanks to improvements in the success at Wolf Lake, hats off to Martha at the DNR for her hard work and to Pete for helping educate her as best he could. With any luck next year will be a far less leathal year for skis on Sanford...lost upward of 18 fish including a big number over 47 inches.

For most of the year, it was one fish here, one fish there every second or third time out, but nothing real consistent. I ended up fishing only one other lake besides LSC this year, which was Sanford as part of the tournament. In the end, though, I did meet my primary goal for the year: catch a 50” casting on LSC. I guess the old saying is true, “it just takes one cast.” Can’t wait for June 2006 . . . I have the coordinates for a big girl that spit the hooks.

I would say 4 fish in a 45 mins period was the highlight, all caught on topwater around sunset. The low was and is still having people complain and threaten me cause i musky fish on sanford and promote it. I am being very patient with people who don't care, and just want to bi*ch about things. I had a guy come in to my store last week saying "hey i caught a few this summer, killed them all, cause they are eating all the crappies" I asked if they were legal size, , he laughed and said "i don't care how big they are, i just get rid of them, i cut a 36" open and it had crappies in it"...which i understand, cause they are going to eat anything they want, but it was not the point. So he purchased some things from me, I got his name, address and phone. After he left i called the RAP line and let them know all about it. They "assured" me they would handle it, whoknows there. This is old hat, everytime it comes up. But Sanford has potential for a truly great trophy fishery, so we're going to have to stick to our guns and educate people, with talking, mind, fist,or foot in their a$$ :)
Happy Holidays everyone
