I think there are a few guys heading down this weekend for a tournament on the area lakes. Hopefully they can give you some up to date info.

There usually is a decent open water bite on those lakes as the main forage is Shad. There are a handful of deep holes throughout the lake, so feel free to cast those with rubber baits such as bulldawgs, medussas, and kickin' minnows. It's definitely a different type of fishing as you're not casting to a weed edge or a rock pile or a drop-off, but there should be fish out there if you see bait on your graph. Also, don't be afraid to throw topwater if you see shad breaking the surface. It's super exciting to get a topwater strike over 40' of water [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
And ALWAYS FIGURE 8 when fishing open water!

I was down at the IMC and spent Thursday and Sunday on Webster. Thursday we saw a lot of fish of all sizes and caught 3 small ones. Sunday was tougher, moved a handful of fish with one 42-44" class fish in 40 foot of water but no takers. Jason summed it up well as the deep basins or the deeper edges off the flats into the basins are what to focus on. Anything goes lure wise but walk the dog topwaters and working gliders fast is popular when the fish are coming up high. If not you can throw swimbaits or rip rubber. Webster has a very high population right now but a lot of it is 20-35" young fish. These fish are fairly easy to find as it seems like they are literally everywhere right now, the bigger ones are tougher and usually are out over open water this time of year.

The first drop off around the maint point has been good for me and also around the biggest island straight north of the main lake point.
